Elk Island Public Schools took to social media Monday, to encourage students and staff to wear blue and yellow to school on Tuesday, March 1st.
In the Facebook post, E-I-P-S touched on the community’s strong ties with Ukraine reflected in programs like the Ukrainian Bilingual Program at A.L Horton Elementary School in Vegreville.
A.L Horton’s Principal Keri Busenius knows plenty of families and staff are deeply affected by the current events.
Busenius discusses the importance of having an event like a day of solidarity.
She asks everyone to wear Ukraine’s national colors with pride on March 1st.
Elk Island Public Schools is one of Alberta’s largest school divisions with 43 schools throughout Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County, Lamont County, and the western portion of the County of Minburn.
Wear blue and yellow in solidarity with Ukraine against the Russian invasion. Canada has the world’s third largest Ukrainian population outside of Ukraine and Russia.
