This is the fifth week of Alberta’s transition to weekly COVID-19 reporting.
The numbers shared on Wednesday (April 20th) cover the time period from April 12th to the 18th.
The province’s average test positivity over the past 7 days has ranged between 20.2 per cent and 30.2 per cent. 6,125 new cases have been reported during the past week based on a total of 24,745 tests.
According to the geospatial data on the alberta.ca website, 4 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Two Hills County during the past 7 days, 11 in the Vegreville/Minburn County area, and 11 in Lamont County.
There are currently 1,126 individuals in hospital in the province due to COVID-19, which is up by 73 from last week’s total. 43 of those patients are in intensive care units – that is down by 5 from last week.
49 new deaths related to the virus have occurred during the past week. Alberta’s total number of deaths due to COVID-19 during the pandemic is 4,190.
