The Vegreville Vipers are off to a great start at the Can-Am Junior Hockey League’s Champions Cup in Cold Lake.
In their opening game of the tournament on Wednesday, the Vipers blanked the Edmonton Eagles 9 to nothing. Edmonton is eliminated from contention as a result. The Eagles had previously lost 6-1 to the Hinton Timberwolves on Tuesday. The Vipers and the Timberwolves are both 1 and oh.
Vegreville continues the Champions Cup this afternoon (Thursday, April 7th) at 2:30 against Hinton.
All six teams are battling it out in this week’s tourney which crown the league’s first-ever champion.
Also on Wednesday, the Cold Lake Aeros improved to 2 and oh by beating the Vernal Oilers 6-5.
