Drivers in Vegreville might be noticing a slightly different routine at stop lights for the next few days, as ATCO is busy at work upgrading the town’s streetlights.
Streetlights are being converted to LED, to save costs and increase lifespan while reducing it’s carbon footprint.
In a presentation to Vegreville Town Council earlier this year, ATCO recommended the conversion to LED as the current high-pressure sodium bulbs are being phased out.
ATCO has begun working in the northwest corner of Vegreville and will be working their way east.
Workers will then move south of Highway 16A and progress east to west.
The streetlight conversion is anticipated to take four to five weeks to complete.
The Town of Vegreville asks that if residents notice ATCO working in their area to please avoid parking in front of streetlights so they can be accessed.
