Groups of demonstrators gathered in Vegreville, Edmonton and across the nation over the weekend, to show their support for Ukraine amidst ongoing tensions with Russia.
The protest was one of many throughout Canada as the standoff between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, the Russians have denied any intent to invade.
Approximately 80 supporters gathered at the World’s Largest Pysanka, flying Ukrainian colors, singing the national anthem and dishing out free hot chocolate for supporters.
Ukrainian Canadian Congress acknowledged the event via their Facebook page, adding the hashtag #StandWithUkraine
Canada’s government has so far sent non-lethal military to Ukraine in efforts to assist the country.
