Val Sweeting from Vegreville has had an incredibly successful curling career so far and as a result the Town of Vegreville is proclaiming this Saturday, April 23rd as ‘Val Sweeting Day’.
Sweeting most recently returned from the world women’s curling championships with a bronze medal in her role as third for Kerri Einarson’s Gimli, Manitoba rink. Team Einarson has also won three consecutive Scotties Tournament of Hearts national women’s curling championships. Sweeting is honoured to have the Town of Vegreville celebrate her successes.
Sweeting moved to Vegreville at age 13 in the year 2000.
Mayor Tim MacPhee says the Town is looking forward to celebration for Val’s accomplishments.
He adds, Sweeting has always been dedicated to her curling career.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend a meet & greet with Val Sweeting with photo opportunties and more from 3 until 5pm this Saturday, April 23rd at the Vegreville Multiplex curling rink. There is no charge to attend.
Sweeting is also slated to attend the Heather Curling Club’s Supper & Dance fundraiser at the Vegreville Social Centre on Saturday night. More details about that event are available on the Heather Curling Club Facebook page or by contacting any curling club member.
