Alberta’s Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction was in Vegreville for a special announcement on Wednesday.
Tanya Fir was at the Innotech Alberta facility to call attention to the fact that Alberta Innovates has removed almost 60 per cent of unnecessary regulatory requirements to support businesses and entrepreneurs.
Fir says Innotech and Alberta Innovates have done remarkable work in cutting red tape. She notes they have gone above and beyond the provincial government’s goal of removing one third of the regulatory requirements – which was set in May of 2019 – and everybody benefits.
Steve McMahon, Chief Operating Officer at InnoTech Alberta, says the goal was to allow the entrepreneurs and the innovators to spend time developing their ideas and their business.
Alberta Innovates is a provincially funded corporation that provides funding and other supports and services to stimulate and grow research and innovation across the province.
If Albertans come across a government process that is too complex, takes to long or is duplicative, Alberta’s government wants to know about it. Head online to alberta.ca/cutredtape and click on “email us your idea”.
